Benteler Distribution’s West Bromwich site has successfully completed an audit and are now certified by TUV ISO 9001(2008) in the overall group matrix system, the standard being reached in less than 12 months. This impressive achievement, of one of the UK’s leading carbon and stainless steel tube stockholders, reflects the continued hard work and dedication of their operations and sales teams who have endeavoured to bring this to fruition.
The new West Bromwich based unit has been accredited to the matrix standard, which as a globally recognised standard, makes them competitive worldwide. The accreditation requires rigorous assessments in the areas of Health and Safety procedures to ensure personnel safety, as well as environmental regulations and procedures to ensure product quality.
Furthermore, the West Bromwich unit were also awarded ‘Best in Practice’ for their root-cause analysis technique. Such a technique has high importance in the automotive sector and shows that Benteler Distribution Ltd truly excels in this area by receiving such a rarely awarded accolade.
Commenting in their significant developments, Keith Rammell, Automotive Product Manager, said: “Benteler are investing in equipment, people and accreditations, unlike many other companies in the same sector during this turbulent economic time, so that we are ready for when the overall economy improves.” Keith added: “We have plans underway to double our existing capacity, enabling us to compete evermore successfully with confidence.”
During this time, Benteler Distribution has also doubled their operations workforce in their West Bromwich based unit to meet their needs for a multi-skilled unit. The expanded team of staff have also undergone training to continually raise ability levels to make such remarkable achievements possible.
Since the beginning of January 2011 the 3530m2(38,000 ft2) West Bromwich warehouse has given Benteler Distribution increased capacity in respect of stocking stainless tube and profiles. The unit has also proven to provide an ideal location for processing and delivering cut parts to the automotive industry. By December 2011 the plant was accredited with a stand-alone TUV ISO 9001. October 2012 has seen this successfully upgraded to the full accreditation TUV ISO 9001 Matrix, along with the creation of a fully trained body of staff and an RSA multi-cutter installed and operational on site to complement its other equipment.
The plant’s catalogue of successes since their opening is evidently equipping Benteler Distribution with the ability to compete with increasing effectiveness and look to the future with justified optimism.
