Building on considerable success in 2012, Benteler Distribution’s West Bromwich based branch are gearing up to enter the hydraulic cylinder and chrome bar market.  The leading global stockholder and processor of tubular products, is continuing to be active in the automotive and stainless steel markets, but is confident that 2013 is the optimum time for them to expand into a new market.

Wayne Bagnall, Regional Sales Manager for Benteler said: “Although we have already gained some market recognition in this sector it is still a relatively new venture for us. It was always our intention for the West Bromwich branch to target this market and after some initial groundwork we are now ready to make a serious entry into the market place. Judging by our performance over the last year we are confident that 2013 will also be prosperous for us across all markets; automotive, stainless steel and for hydraulic cylinders and chrome bar.”  Benteler are already in talks with, and taking orders from, a number of high profile targets.  Wayne added: “We are continuing to look for strategic partners and are open to such organisations contacting us.”

The firm are incredibly well equipped to expand into new markets after substantial investment into new processing equipment.  Benteler’s investment of approximately £2 million in new processing equipment and £1 million in new warehouse facilities has already seen them purchase a Rattunde ACS102 with end finishing capabilities (facing and chamfering), which has already enabled the firm to offer an almost finished part to their clients. The investment has also allowed the purchasing of an RSA Rasacut Multi-cut machine and a Casto 430 band saw.  Thus, the West Bromwich branch are well equipped to complete work for hydraulic cylinder manufacturers to equally exacting standards as they have developed a reputation for in the current markets that they serve.

Wayne Bagnall added: “Despite very tough trading conditions during the second half of 2012 the West Bromwich site grew by approximately 40% (2012 v 2011) and acquired a number of key targets in both the stainless steel and automotive markets.  We are now ready to roll out this success into the Hydraulic market and hope to have similar results whilst continuing to increase business across all areas.”  One notable success saw the West Bromwich plant successfully complete an audit and become certified by TUV ISO 9001(2008) in the overall group matrix system, reaching the required standard in less than 12 months. “This is now being rolled out to all other UK sites (Bolton, Basingstoke and Falkirk) and should be complete by mid-2014” Wayne added.

Benteler Distribution’s 38,000 square foot warehouse and processing plant is located at Delta Point in West Bromwich.  The purpose built premises have enabled an increase in capacity for stocking stainless tube and sections, cylinder tube and chrome bar; in addition to an already vast carbon range.

Benteler’s West Bromwich branch are evidently very competently meeting and exceeding their targets and their entrance into the hydraulic cylinder and chrome bar markets also looks set for success.  For further information on Benteler Distribution’s work in hydraulic cylinders and chrome bar and to enquire about strategic partnerships, please contact Wayne Bagnall, Regional Sales Manager on 0121 500 3200 or [email protected].
